This is the sixth solo exhibition of Yin Changzhi presented at 55 following "UPANDDOWN" (2024), ”Walking with the Ball" (2022), "X/Y" (2020), "from ONE to ANOTHER" (2019), and “Wedge” (2018).

Painting has not come to an end, nor has it ever truly fallen silent. It always occurs in the friction between materials and the body, in a way that has not yet been named, and continues to happen.

Yin Changzhi’s individual exhibition "New Works" is not intended to present new images, but rather to reexamine the generation mechanism of painting. How does the weight of the hand affect the surface? How does the direction of force reorganize the structure? How does time get compressed onto the fabric during the movement? The canvas here is no longer merely a flat surface for holding images; instead, it becomes a structural entity that can be disassembled and reassembled. Tearing, accumulation and mending are not acts of destruction. They are a method. By disrupting the existing order, the painting is liberated from the rigid grammar. When the fissure appears, the space opens up accordingly. When the structure is reconnected, the picture acquires new tension. Deconstruction and reconstruction are no longer opposing processes. Rather, they are two stages of the same breath. The relationship between structure, color and materials is constantly rewritten through repeated manipulation. Therefore, painting becomes a constantly evolving and collaborative space. Every action is a moment of reconfirmation of how it came to be.
